RUHR-UNIVERSITAET BOCHUM (RUB)
Collaborative research across traditional disciplinary boundaries, a university-wide Research School for early career researchers and knowledge networks at the local, regional and international level highlight RUB’s distinct institutional research profile. Founded in the early sixties to address the challenges of structural change in the region, the university has developed into one of Germany’s largest research universities. It hosts the full spectrum of academic disciplines on its campus – the humanities and social sciences, the natural sciences and medicine as well as engineering. It is known for excellence in research, state-of-the-art research infrastructures and fostering research talent at all career levels while being dedicated to innovating teaching and promoting transfer.
The Chair of Computing in Civil Engineering has been dealing with the digitization of civil engineering for many years. Research focuses on the optimization of construction and logistics processes as well as the automated recognition of construction progress. In particular, heuristic optimization methods and machine learning methods are developed and tested in practice.
